Conor McGregor has declared he’s yet to put alcohol to one side ahead of his comeback.

‘Notorious’ is currently gearing up for his first fight since he suffered a nasty leg break during his trilogy bout with Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021.

The former dual-weight champion is booked to face Michael Chandler and he recently 'leaked' proof they’ll square off at UFC 296 in Las Vegas on December 16.

As talk about their impending fight ramped up, Chandler took to social media to share pictures from the gym alongside the caption: “Going to be the best camp of my life… the time off has been needed.”

McGregor was one of the many people to react to Chandler’s most recent upload as he shared a fight prediction before deleting his comment.

He tweeted: “I’m on the gargle every night and still gonna smack the s*** out of you.”

In Irish slang, gargle refers to beer but is often associated with drinking any form of alcohol.

During his time away from fighting, McGregor has certainly been enjoying himself and is often seen with a pint of his Forged Irish Stout in hand.

The 35-year-old was pictured drinking several of them when he sat in the front row to watch Anthony Joshua knock Robert Helenius out cold at London’s O2 Arena earlier this month.

In April, McGregor went on a tour of America to watch Gervonta Davis vs Ryan Garcia and two of his former opponents compete in a bare-knuckle boxing bout.

During that time, he often had a bottle of his Proper 12 in hand after topping Forbes' list of rich athletes by selling the whiskey company for $600million [£476.5m] in 2021.

Despite McGregor insisting he will return this year, UFC president Dana White recently claimed it’s unlikely his biggest star will compete before the first quarter of 2024.

It appears he can enjoy beer and whiskey for a little longer.

However, that doesn’t seem to be what McGregor has been doing as he has recently dropped a significant amount of weight after seriously bulking up during his MMA hiatus.
